FAQ
1. Is (insert name of item here) in
English?
A: All DVDs are US Region DVDs, and typically include English and Japanese unless
otherwise noted. Domestic Manga is all English, as are all the "How to
Draw Books".Import Artbooks, Manga, and Soundtracks are all Japanese unless
otherwise noted.
2. I order X product and I haven't
received it. Why?
A: There are only 3 reasons why you haven't received your item on time.
i. The post office has delayed the shipping of it
ii. The release date of the product was pushed back, or the manufacturer has
decided to send product to preferentially, leaving smaller retailers with a
few days delayed product.
iii. We are out of stock of the product and are awaiting new stock. If this
is the case we'll likely contact you unless it is an Import Soundtrack or Import
Artbook. These items will ship immediately if in stock, but could take up to
6 weeks to deliver. We try to keep the inventory updated as much as possible.
3. Do you accept Money Orders or CODs?
A. No CODs. Money Orders, mailed with enough to cover shipping and item requests
will be handled. When paying by money order, the order is treated as if it was
received the day it was received.
4. Your site said (insert promotion
name here) and it didn't ring up at the check out line, why?
A. All of AnimeOutpost's promotions have a coupon code, for most of these you
will have to enter them into the coupon area. However, if you are in doubt,
please use the comments box to alert us. In some cases, your order will not
be shipped immediately, in those rare cases, an email from you alerting us that
you forgot to put the coupon in, will allow us to change the status for you.
5. I heard your ad in Newtype USA needed
to be changed because another anime company was upset about the possible implication
of them, is this true? and was this intended?
A. Yes. No.
6. I just ordered product X and I see
that it is available somewhere else, and your site said it was pre-order, why?
A. Some items like Virtual Beauties have two editions. The first edition may
still be available, while, the second edition is not available anywhere. Some
stores may put up their pre-order button later than AnimeOutpost in which case,
it may appear as if they have that item, most of the time this is not the case.
Other times, manufacturers will send items to larger stores first, in which
case, we'll gladly cancel your order as long as you give us notice before we
ship them item.
7. Is your site related or tied into
OtakuRevu.com or AnimeOutpost.net or AnimeOutpost.au ?
A. AnimeOutopost.au, No, this is an Australian
Site.
B. We sponsor OtakuRevu.com with paid advertising, and through affiliate linkages.
C. We pay for the hosting on AnimeOutpost.net, and advertise on it, aside from
participating in the forum, we're completely hands off.
8. Item X looks like a bootleg, is
it?
A. Our stance on "bootleg" items is that we want you to know that
we aren't sure whether it is or not. As soon as someone tells us that an item
is an ILLEGAL bootleg, we will immediately stop carrying it. However, there
are some items which are very rare and hard to find, and very cost prohibitive
to offer to the public. In these cases, items may be purchased from Taiwan,
instead of Japan. The best way to know if an item is a Genuine JAPANESE import
vs. a Taiwanese Import is to look at the cost. Genuine Japanese Imports usually
retail at $29 for full CDs, on up for Soundtracks containing more than 1 disc,
while Taiwanese Imports cost around 13$ per disc. That's not to confuse these
with Domestic CDs which retail at 15$. Tokyopop, ADV and Pioneer release these
CDs.
EVERY store sells Taiwanese imports, that's
right the nation's full of
'em. We are going through the process of marking all of our GENUINE IMPORT CDs
so collectors can distinguish between the two. If you are ever concerned that
we might be selling you an "bootleg" just drop us a line at customerservice@animeoutpost.com
and we'll let you know where we got that item. Only our Import CDs will have
this classification, everything else we carry is imported directly from Japanese
Manufacturers.
9. Every Store?
A. Yes. With very few exceptions. One being
rightstuff, inc. They don't carry many CDs to begin though.
10. What's the estimated cost of shipping?
A. We usually ship all items via US Mail. This means you can go to USPS.com
and calculate the shipping based on the weight. If you live outside the us,
figure in 5-15 dollars or more if the items are heavy. Newtype Magazines weight
3LBS.
